Danville native Jerry Van Dyke dies at 86

His wife, Shirley Ann Jones told the New York Times that his health had been deteriorating since he was in a traffic accident in 2015.

The star, who is the younger brother of legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke, was with his wife Shirley when he died at his Arkansas ranch on Friday, TMZ reported.

Jerry Van Dyke was a popular comedian from Danville, Illinois. he made his television premiere on his brother's show, "The Dick Van Dyke Show".

Van Dyke maintained his reputation as a welcome variety show and comedy guest up to the point of his passing.

Jerry Van Dyke, best known for his role as Asst. It ran for only one season on NBC in September 1965.

He won four consecutive Emmy Award Nominations for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series" for the part. A few of his other ill-fated projects included "Accidental Family", "Headmaster" and "13 Queens Boulevard". Coach Luther Van Dam alongside Craig T. Nelson.
