The story follows Air Force pilot Carol whose DNA is fused with that of an alien in an accident, giving her super strength, energy projection and flight powers. The addition of Monica Rambeau's Captain Marvel would make sense, as the film is clearly working with the knowledge that there's been more than one hero who's held the mantle.

The film will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing with Kevin Feige producing.

Marvel is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News. Apart from Wise, the movie will also feature Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jude Law.

The Captain Marvel movie has been assembling quite a cast. Rambeau was a cop who was exposed to extra-dimensional energy, which gave her the ability to manipulate her body into any kind of energy. Is Marvel looking to bring that dynamic to the big screen?
