Wenger has been handed a three-match touchline ban and a £40,000 fine following a misconduct charge from the Football Association over comments he made about the refereeing of the game against West Brom.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that former Nottingham Forest boss Brian Clough was "on another planet" when the Frenchman started out in management.

Meanwhile, Wenger has hinted he will ring the changes after a busy schedule over the Christmas and the New Year.

"We played three big games in six days, twice away, a big game at home, and we have to keep our level of focus and urgency, because the third round is always very hard, especially when you play away from home against a Championship team". Brazil took over from the sacked Mark Warburton after a poor first half of the season, however, he believes he saw renewed fight which bodes well ahead of facing the Gunners.

"They helped us a little bit to win this trophy, and we have a squad who can deal with that", he said.

Arsenal meet Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday, and Wenger has hailed Clough as an influence on his own managerial career. Steve Bould will probably be calling the shots, but I don't expect that Arsenal will be too negatively affected by le absence of le boss.

Attack: Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are expected to be rested while Alexandre Lacazette should also be given a breather after starting throughout the festive period.

"We know though that if you get through that, what can be on the other side of it".

Arsene Wenger has never been eliminated in the third round of the FA Cup - Arsenal's last failure to progress was in their last third-round tie before Wenger's appointment, losing to Sheffield United in 1995/96.
