Congress has capacity to defeat BJP in 2019: Rahul

In his address - the first since he took over as the Congress chief - Mr Gandhi kept his focus on the problems of the young and alleged that the BJP-led government was trying to benefit from it. Rahul Gandhi said Modi government has failed to provide jobs which has resulted in tremendous anger amongst the youth. We will present a new Congress party to you and a new vision to the country. The Congress Mahanagar president Prithviraj Chauhan said that a new energy has been generated among the party workers under Pritam Singh as the PCC president.

He said the Congress has the strength to fight the BJP and claimed it will defeat the ruling party in 2019. At the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, the party members celebrated with fireworks and candies.

He said that Indian politics is "quite a unusual experience" and noted that signalling by politicians in the country is "wrong" which leads to incidents of hate and violence against people.

The Congress party, he said is "the most tested ideology" that "brings people together and does not create any division".

Gandhi said 30,000 new youngsters entered the job market in India every day. The only thing India talks about is what you are allowed to eat, who is allowed to protest and what we can say or rather what we cannot say.

Without mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi even once in his brief speech and the subsequent question and answer session, the Congress chief faulted the intent of the current government as it remains silent when there is violence or people are threatened. "You will see a dramatic change in the Congress party", said Gandhi.

"Your talent, skills, tolerance, patriotism is what India needs today". Gandhi had visited the USA in September and addressed students.
