Secret Service Spotted Fire Atop Trump Tower

Emergency services in NY were responding to a fire at the top of Trump Tower this morning, according to local media. Three minor injuries are now reported.

Aerial views showed firefighters on the roof, with smoke billowing from one corner of the high-rise.

A fire broke out on the roof of NYC's Trump Tower on the morning of Monday, Jan. 8.

"This building has two roofs - a low roof, where all the mechanical equipment is. and a top roof. with some vents to cover that equipment so you don't see it from the outside", the official said.

One firefighter was injured when debris fell on him, according to Sakowich.

The FDNY responded just after 7 a.m. Firefighters got the fire was under control in about an hour. Trump Tower, located at 721 Fifth Avenue, is home to President Trump's family and is protected by Secret Service.

It houses the penthouse residence of Donald Trump, where he had lived before moving to the White House in January 2017.

Eric Trump, the president's son, said there was a small electrical fire in a cooling tower on the rooftop and that the fire department arrived at the scene within minutes. President Trump, who owns the building and keeps an apartment in the skyscraper, is now in Washington DC.

A short circuit in a bathroom fan was responsible for the fire in a detached building on the Clintons' property, according to The Associated Press.
