"I'm proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform", Bannon said.

It was Bannon - Trump's former senior strategist, fired by the USA president in August - who helped give Wolff access to the White House to carry out research for his bombshell book.

The author of "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" said President Donald Trump's fundamental desire isn't just "winning" - it's love.

When pressed for the president's personal reaction, Gidley said he had not spoken to Trump on that topic specifically.

But he goes on to say, in a hilariously misguided effort to discredit Wolff, that the author was indeed given access to the White House and staffers were asked to speak with him.

Kawhi Leonard Has Partial Tear In Left Shoulder
Wright , the team remains hopeful that Leonard can return and play on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers . Popovich's squad has relied on a group effort rather than an individual replacement for Leonard's scoring.

Excerpts from the book started surfacing last week and Trump and White House staffers spent most of last week denying most of Wolff's descriptions of an Oval Office in tumoil and a president coming unhinged. Bannon, who is Trump's former chief strategist, sought to make amends Sunday, saying in statement that his description was aimed at former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, not Trump's son.

"I regret that my delay in responding to the inaccurate reporting regarding Don Jr has diverted attention from the President's historical accomplishments in the first year of his presidency".

Bannon had struggled to claw back his remarks after the book was published and the president publicly lashed out at his former adviser.

In a statement, Trump said Bannon has nothing to do with his presidency and has "lost his mind".

Bannon and Breitbart will work together on a smooth and orderly transition, the news site added.
