Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers - 1/13/18 NBA Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers hook up Saturday afternoon both feeding off some much-needed positive energy.

Coach Luke Walton is eager to see whether they can maintain the momentum that's making their future look slightly less bleak. The Lakers had scored 12 fast break points in the first quarter.

Larry Nance Jr. had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers (14-27), who blew an early 19-point lead before running away in the fourth quarter with a poise they've shown only fleetingly this season.

The front office did not want to respond to comments made by a parent of a player, even if the Lakers met with LaVar Ball earlier in the season to ask him to tone down his previous criticism of Walton and the coaching staff being "soft" on the rookie point guard while also harping on how they were using the Lonzo Ball in the fourth quarter.

Caldwell-Pope split a pair of free throws with 11.6 seconds remaining to give the Lakers a 95-93 lead.

NWS: Winter Storm Warning Thursday Night, Friday
The NWS and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are warning travelers in the area to stay alert as the storm moves into the area. Low pressure is expected to develop along the front and enhance the precipitation across northeast OH and northwest PA.

The most recent case comes from San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, widely known for his oft-hilarious, unabashed candor. Ball hit three 3-pointers and didn't miss a shot in the first half. They answered with a 15-3 run of their own to grab a two-point lead with just under four minutes to play. Since then, they have won 3 in a row to end their five-game homestand. "It's just another fan in the peanut gallery with an opinion, which is meaningless".

While it's presumable that LeBron hasn't made any final decisions yet about his whereabouts next season, the Lakers have always been up in conversation as a potential destination. Dorsey recalled Tucker teaching him to "play with tenacity" back in his high school days.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (41) of Germany is fouled driving to the basket by Los Angeles Lakers' Josh Hart, rear, in the first half of an NBA basketball game, Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, in Dallas. "Whether guys are far back or too close, I can drive around them, I'm just trying to read the defence and make the best play", Ingram said after the win.

The former Indiana Pacers star and current TNT analyst wants Lakers president Magic Johnson to lay the smack down (figuratively, though I can't say I would mind seeing the literal interpretation either) on LaVar for his distracting the team.

The Lakers go on a three-game road trip, starting with the Dallas Mavericks on January 13 at 11:00 A.M. PST.
