"Given that we ended the season with Ferrari, Red Bull and ourselves very close, I anticipate this year will be quite similar", said the Mercedes driver at today's launch of the vehicle he hopes will take him to a fourth title.

After the Thursday launch, the vehicle was due at the Catalunya Circuit, for a filming day followed by the start of pre-season testing on Monday, Feburary 26.

While the Brackley team are on a run of four consecutive title doubles, Ferrari will complete a full decade without either world championship should they ultimately leave 2018 empty-handed.

The 2018 car's predecessor, the SF70H, was Ferrari's most competitive F1 offering in years, helping Vettel to five race wins. "The way the team has come out with a competitive auto at the beginning, the way we have improved both chassis and engine, on all fronts I think it has been outstanding".

"Some minor things change every year, but the chassis is mostly a development - and now is obviously the time where you see the auto, it's all ready, so you want to get in, go out on the track and have a go", said 2017 championship runner-up Sebastian Vettel. The Halo, which is mandatory this year, has a red fairing and a Ferrari badge placed on the front.

Abbas to focus on Jerusalem in speech to UN Security Council
They have been dispatched in and out of the Middle East to come up with a peace blueprint since Trump took office. But Abbas - who left the room after addressing the council - was not present to hear Haley's comments.

"[The car] looks nice and usually when it looks nice, there's speed also", added Vettel's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.

"Our goal is to always be faster". "We maintained aggressive concepts", Binotto said. "The SF71H has a tighter vehicle body and has been built to perform in high-speed circuits", said Ferrari's technical director, Mattia Binotto.

It features Ferrari's traditional red livery, with the colour white mostly absent from this vehicle in contrast to its immediate predecessors.

"I just hope for the good of Formula One that Ferrari, Red Bull, and even McLaren can put a challenge to Mercedes so we can have some exciting racing".

Ferrari have not won the constructors title since 2008 with Raikkonen last winning the drivers title for Ferrari in 2007.
