National security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster might leave the White House.

After recent tensions between President Donald Trump and the aides, Reuters quoted four senior administration officials as saying the two men might resign at any time. The task of easing McMaster out of his role as national security adviser presents a unique challenge for the White House.

CNN reports the Pentagon is conducting a search for a military position for McMaster in the Defense Department or the Army.

Per CNN, officials at the Pentagon are "quietly" conducting a search for "a four-star military job suited for McMaster", who is now ranks as a three-star general. Why? Press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Tuesday that Trump "still has confidence in General McMaster".

The decision was also driven by the White House's challenge attracting top talent for jobs in the administration due to Trump's "blacklist" of individuals who have criticized the President, his personality and the Russian Federation investigation, according to a senior Republican source.

It remains unclear whether Mr. Mattis will recommend transgendered troops should remain among the military's ranks, a move that goes against Mr. Trump's plan to ban those troops from service.

The official announcement about transgender policy is expected from the White House no later than March 23, according to officials.

After U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller charged 13 Russians, a Russian propaganda arm and two other firms on February 16 with tampering in the election to boost Trump, McMaster said the evidence of Moscow's meddling was "incontrovertible".

Snow winding down this morning; another storm expected this weekend
ADOT advised travelers headed to the Grand Canyon to allow plenty of extra travel time because of snow and limited visibility. According to the warnings, travel Saturday night through early Sunday morning is expected to be extremely hard .

"General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC, and the Dems". "Remember the Dirty Dossier, Uranium, Speeches, Emails and the Podesta Company!" One Republican insider explained that the tension between the pair comes from a difference in "personality and style", Trump wrote on Twitter. Will the president try to overrule his Secretary of Defense?

Reports this week suggested that Mattis would urge Trump to allow transgender troops to remain in the US military, despite the president's shocking announcement last summer that they would no longer be allowed to serve "in any capacity".

He has also been undercut by others in Trump's orbit like former chief strategist Steve Bannon, according to congressional and administration officials.

Kelly and McMaster have chafed at Trump's treatment of them in public and in private, which both at times have considered insulting, said all four officials, speaking on condition of anonymity.

A senior US official confirmed to Fox News on Friday that Mattis made the recommendation to Trump. There was no sense that Kushner would be leaving his job.

Major David Eastburn, a Pentagon spokesman, said the recommendations had been made earlier on Friday and the White House would make any policy decisions.

If a suitable job couldn't be found, McMaster could opt to retire.
