The Indiana State Department of Health is reporting that there have been 219 deaths so far this year from the flu.

The weekly report from the Minnesota Department of Health says influenza has dropped from "widespread" to "regional".

Everyone needs to take more precautions this flu season. The goal is to get 80 percent of all Americans and 90 percent of at-risk populations (the elderly and children, in particular) vaccinated every year.

In addition to a record number of flu deaths for the modern era, the number of hospitalizations statewide stood at 4,119 as of Tuesday, another record.

"The Health and Counseling Center ordered and will continue to order flu vaccine based on several factors", Smith explained in an interview with the Collegian.

Premier John Horgan revealed his government is seeking clarification on the legality of its pipeline opposition in the courts. Horgan denied backing down, saying the intention is to have cooler heads prevail.

Still, health professionals say it's better to get the shot than not.

Since late August, 105 deaths have been attributed to the flu (80 associated with influenza A, 25 with influenza B). "Among the repository viruses we see each year, the flu has the largest impact", he said.

"I've always highly encouraged vaccines", Poling added. The vouchers are available for New Yorkers 7 years of age and older who do not have health insurance. The agency recommends injections over nasal sprays, which the CDC has not recommended for the past two years because of lower effectiveness.
