Holi, the "festival of colours", also celebrates the victory of good over evil. The dhol players move from house to house during the festival playing on drums.

Bollywood Celebrates like Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Juhi Chawla and many more on Friday sent the Holi wishes to their fans, and said them to enjoy a safe and happy festival of colours and candies. Celebrate with vibrant colors.

As the festival is associated with revelry and boisterous fun, many were seen consuming "bhang" (an edible preparation of cannbis) to add zest to their celebrations.

People take part in Holi all around the world, but the festival is celebrated the most in parts of India and Nepal.

On the occasion of Holi and Dhuleti, Amitabh Bachchan shared photos of him celebrating with his family. His son, however, followed Vishnu, the protector of the universe, turning his back on the demon. It lasts for a night and a day, starting on the evening of the Purnima (Full Moon day) falling in the Vikram Samvat Hindu Calendar month of Phalguna, which falls somewhere between the end of February and the middle of March in the Gregorian calendar.

It is celebrated each year around the time of the vernal equinox, and is typically celebrated in March but sometimes as early as February.

It is said that the mythological Holika - who was immune to fire - died on this day.

It was a seemingly foolproof plan; Holika would take Prahlad onto her lap and straight into a bonfire. Soon after, Vishnu killed Hiranyakashayap and Prahlad became king. On the Indian subcontinent, people start making and selling different Holi powder colors at least a week before the festival begins.
