As technology continues to change the way we look at the world and ourselves, there's apparently no shortage of subject matter for Black Mirror. As a result, we can probably expect season five to launch towards the end of 2018 or in early 2019.

Netflix bosses said: "Patience is a virtue, but rest easy knowing there is more Black Mirror on the way".

Netflix announced Monday that the beloved sci-fi anthology series has been renewed for a fifth season on the streaming service. The message shows a collection of clips from previous episodes all playing at once, which will remind fans of season 4's "Black Museum" episode.

"Black Mirror" originally aired on the U.K.'s Channel 4 for the first two seasons and then moved to Netflix for Seasons 3 and 4.

Allison Janney picks first Oscar for 'I, Tonya'
She said she "didn't dare to dream of things like this" earlier in her career because she did not want to be disappointed. Allison Janney dedicated her Oscars win to her late brother, who took his own life in 2011.

Given that Black Mirror is been known for A-list talent like Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jesse Plemons, the dystopian horror is guaranteed to bring on some more big stars for Season 5. And while some episodes were significantly better than others, overall, it was another hugely successful season for the franchise. The teaser (posted to social media, below), played to the show's recognizable tune, is also one big Easter egg to season four's "Black Museum", which included a reference to almost every episode of the series. "I think even a number seven would just do us in".

As excited as we are by Netflix's news, there's still a few things that remain pretty unclear about it all. Continuing from the Emmy Award-winning third season, fans were able to enjoy Season 4 when it premiered on the streaming service late past year.
