Jimmy Kimmel tackles Harvey Weinstein in Oscars monologue

Trump said the "problem" with the Oscars' ratings was that he was the only "star" nowadays.

Considering the war of words that Trump had with some actors in the run-up to the 2017 Oscars, it is hard to accept Trump's claim that his recent observation is a joke.

Leader of the Free World and Two-Time Emmy Loser Donald J. Trump woke up this morning and chose to taunt his former colleagues in Hollywood.

THE RATINGS FOR this year's Oscars are in, and the results are not good.

"While many Presidents have been lauded for their self deprecating humor Trump gives us all one more reason to loathe him with his self Aggrandizing Humor", a follow-up tweet stated.

"Lowest-rated Oscars in HISTORY", he tweeted Tuesday morning.

Tuesday was the deadline that President Trump set for the program to be expired. However, a court ruling decided the administration can't enforce that deadline.

The awards show has never fallen under 32 million viewers and a 21 rating in metered homes before, taking the program to historic new norms - in the wrong direction, Deadline wrote.

This year the #MeToo and Time's Up movements exposing and combating sexual harassment in the entertainment industry were front and centre, even during the red carpet entrances before the show.

Of course, Hollywood liberals are a glutton for punishment, since they believe they are on the side of the angels, and all those who disagree are flyover rubes who are still stuck in the dark ages.

The declines in the Oscars are probably exacerbated by the voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who have tended to celebrate smaller movies and resisted nominating blockbusters. There is also a correlation between the box-office numbers for Best Picture front-runners and total audience viewership. But with $57.4 million in ticket sales, The Shape of Water was the biggest best picture victor in five years since Argo in 2013.

The all-time high for viewership came in 1998, when Billy Crystal hosted the ceremony and 55 million viewers watched.

Rather, the longer-term - and more intractable - problem for the Oscars is the fragmentation of the television audience.

There was the montage of women and minority filmmakers reflecting on diversity in film, which was introduced by three women who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual abuse: Salma Hayek Pinault, Annabella Sciorra and Ashley Judd. Later in the broadcast, he said, "We don't make movies like Call Me by Your Name for money".
