The runaway Premier League leaders will secure their place in the last eight of the Champions League for just the second time in their history barring a remarkable last 16, second leg collapse when they host Basel on Wednesday, boasting a 4-0 first leg lead.

David Silva is expected to be in the squad after missing the Basel match for personal reasons.

Manchester City's Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph are recovering well from their injuries and face fitness tests to determine if they will be available for Monday's Premier League game at Stoke City, manager Pep Guardiola said.

And England global Stones, making his second start in six weeks, said he was disappointed by City's lacklustre performance despite a 5-2 aggregate win securing progress to the quarterfinals.

Asked of his side's injury situation, he replied: "Some of them are better".

Pep Guardiola could clinch his first league title that day and the problem between the two clubs comes after United denied a City film crew access to the Old Trafford tunnel earlier in the season.

"I said from the beginning if the FA considers I shouldn't wear the yellow ribbon I would accept it but the fact that I wear it or not doesn't mean anything, because the yellow ribbon is always going to be there, whether you see it or not, even if I wear it in the press conference, post-match, it doesn't matter, the situation doesn't change, there are still people in prison in an unfair way".

City have nearly three weeks without a game after their trip to Stoke, with Guardiola planning to take his players on a short training break to Abu Dhabi. We need to be focused because Stoke away is always hard. "The best example is two days ago, we lost against Basel", said Guardiola.

"Being knocked out by Monaco last season hurt, so we wanted to put things right this season".

"Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct after admitting an FA charge for wearing a political message, specifically a yellow ribbon, in breach of The FA's kit and advertising regulation".

The City manager's deal runs out at the end of next season and he has repeatedly refused to discuss in public whether he will extend it. "My agent is not in town", Guardiola told the media.
