Sponsorless, the #32 vehicle was in risk of not racing, but his competitor drivers Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick both chipped in $5,000 of their own money to help.

"Everybody just came here mad, chip on their shoulder, wanting to do exactly what we did today", Harvick said. There's nothing better to be a part of than something like that.

Harvick said. "I don't understand that".

Since the penalty, the NASCAR community has collectively questioned the legitimacy of the Atlanta and Las Vegas victories, the additional scrutiny, Unhappy Harvick something to prove this weekend.

To say that Harvick was upset by the penalties would be to understate the situation in a most fantastic style.

Harvick got in front of Busch on the last series of pit stops on the mile oval. We didn't stomp them, but we won.

Harvick, whose team were hit with an L1 penalty on Wednesday after his Las Vegas-winning auto was found with two violations stemming from a rear-window malfunction, took the lead away from Ryan Newman on lap 291 (of 312) and was able to hold off Kyle Busch for his ninth career victory at Phoenix.

Following Harvick to the checkered flag were: Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Truex, Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola, Daniel Suarez, Erik Jones and Kurt Busch.

Kevin Harvick is the first driver to record their 3rd-straight win since 2015.

That would cost Busch the victory. In 31 Cup starts in Phoenix, the California driver was 15 top-five finishes.

It doesn't matter how it happened, or that Bourdais was gifted the victory, only that he could indeed win again. Fast facts: Harvick now has 100 career wins.

Martin Truex Jr. won the pole during qualifying on Friday. I think a lot of it, too, is having that little extra time for these guys to be able to massage everything, take everything we had and make it better.

"It's always fun to come home", Bowman said. "My helmet blower quit, everything quit". He started 10 races in the No. 88 vehicle in 2016 when Earnhardt was sidelined by a concussion, winning the pole and finishing a career-best sixth at Phoenix in the fall race.
