Lions sign veteran RB LeGarrette Blount

It's the third transaction of the day for the Patriots, who first addressed a dire need when they signed pass rusher Adrian Clayborn to bolster the front seven. He was with the New England Patriots two years ago when they overcame a 28-3 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons and was with the Philadelphia Eagles this past season.

LeGarrette Blount didn't sign with the Eagles for months into free agency a year ago, coming to Philadelphia when the market for him around the National Football League didn't quite reach the level he had hoped after a career season with the New England Patriots.

Blount also gives the Lions veteran experience in a running back room in which Ameer Abdullah had been the team's lead running back.

On Friday night, Detroit found that veteran in former New England Patroits' star LeGarrette Blount.

It's going to be a wild Thursday morning that's worth locking in to before the tourney really gets going in the afternoon. He closed with a 12-foot putt to save par from the bunker. "I feel way more comfortable in the tournament setting now".

LeGarrette Blount has agreed to a one-year deal with Detroit for $4.5 million, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Blount finished last season with 173 carries for 766 yards and two touchdowns, as well as eight receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Even with the addition of Blount, the Lions are likely to add a running back in the draft as well.

It makes sense. Honestly, I can't remember the last time the Lions had a big back.

At 31, it's reasonable to think he may have a limited role with the Lions but that may not be the case. In 2016 with the Pats, he had 299 carries for 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns (!).
