In 2016, Intel-Haifa developed the "Kaby Lake" processor which was at the time considered the strongest and fastest ever made for desktop computers.

The chip giant said that its new 8th Gen Intel Core i9, i7 and i5 processors for laptops are based on the Coffee Lake platform.

The H-series processors mentioned above actually have the "G" suffix, and today, Intel announced the actual "H" chips. It's called the Core i9-8950K and includes six cores (12 threads) and is manufactured using Intel's 14nm++ process technology.

All told, Intel is launching 11 new mobile CPUs, new Optane branding, a bevy of new desktop chips, and new chipsets.

Unlike the new Radeon RX Vega M processors which are meant for thinner and lighter laptops, similar to Nvidia's Max-Q architecture, the Core i9 series is meant for more powerful machines where performance is king. The new generation processors will be providing high level and ultimate gaming experience for customers. All the new chips come with integrated Intel Wireless-AC with Gigabit Throughput, integrated USB 3.1 Gen2 support, and Optane support.

On the desktop front, there are three new standard-voltage processors: the 65W Core i5-8600 and Core i5-8500, and the 62W Core i3-8300.

Russian Federation expels Western envoys in tit-for-tat move
Britain's government says the nerve agent used in the attack, Novichok, was developed in Russian Federation . The British side has more than 50 more people", foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told AFP.

Intel has announced the release of its eighth-generation i9, i7, and i5 processors for laptop computers.

Target applications are high performance embedded and mobile systems, industrial and medical workstations, storage servers and cloud workstations, as well as media transcoding and edge computing cores.

Another premiere in the world of CPUs is that the 9th generation i9 is the first chip that comes in six cores and twelve threads setting. Its base clock speed is 2.9GHz and it has a maximum single-core Turbo Boost speed of 4.8GHz. Only the Core i9-8950HK is unlocked; the Core i7-8850H's partial unlock allows for DRAM overclocking and a 400MHz CPU overclock, but not more.

On top of all of that comes new support in the 8th-gen range for Intel's Optane memory, dubbed as being "a smart and adaptable system accelerator for desktop and mobile platforms, increasing the performance and responsiveness of SATA-based storage technology without compromising storage capacity". Finally, there are new hexa-core Xeon E processors, which are also 45W.

It essentially works as a cache drive, figuring out what the most regularly used data is on your slow hard drive and keeping those files stored inside the speedy Optane tech.

The company introduced 8th generations Core Processors for desktops as well.
