NHS England sets out plans to close 21% gender pay gap

6,533 employers had published data, of an expected 9,000.

"The clock is quickly ticking down for large employers to report their gender pay gap data".

The news comes after a report by Johnston Press - the parent company of The News, Portsmouth - revealed a mean gender pay gap of 15.1 per cent, as well as more males than females in management roles and a predominantly male Senior Management Team.

She said: "Gender pay gap reporting is a good move as it has raised awareness and made people more conscious of the issue - that is the first step".

Universal Music UK, Sony Music UK, Warner Music UK and Live Nation have today released their gender pay gap statistics. "We therefore now have a smaller proportion of women than men in higher paid senior positions". According to BT's main public company listing, women are paid 2.3% more in terms of median hourly rate.

The Independent's sister title The Evening Standard revealed it had a gender pay gap of 12.8 per cent in favour of men yesterday. "The former is rightly protected by law, the latter is a variety of calculations that are more or less meaningful depending on the extent to which they compare like-for-like circumstances".

However, a closer look at the data reveals a different picture.

The iPhone maker said the gender pay gap was due to more men in senior positions than women which led to higher pay, bonuses and stock.

Though the aviation strike is not linked to Macron's reforms directly, it certainly made the impact of the unions' strike bigger. Workers now enjoy generous contract and benefits, but the French government is looking to reform contracts for new workers.

Are your female employees mostly in lower-paid roles? "Both are issues that need tackling, particularly considering that equal pay is the law and it's flouted by so many big businesses".

Figures vary greatly from company to company, and the gap fluctuates depending on whether mean or median is used to calculate it.

Warner Music UK's gender gap for bonuses was 82% (mean) and 44% (median).

The National Women's Law Center is now working with Democracy Forward, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement and other groups to challenge the Trump administration's decision to stay the equal pay policy.

A spokesman for its parent company Verizon said: "There is progress to be made in increasing the representation of women into higher-paying jobs in the United Kingdom at Verizon and Oath". At CNN's bureau in London, the mean gap was -3% and the median was 24%.

The disparity is a result of Apple's leadership ranks being filled with men.

In some cases, employers have attributed the uneven representation of men and women in their workforces to particular industries and roles being more attractive to a particular gender - but in others, unequal opportunity may be at the heart.

In March, Minister for Women and Equalities Amber Rudd, announced a £1.5 million fund to support people back into work after time out caring.
