An analyst believes that the 6.1-inch 2018 LCD iPhone could cost as low as $550 and it may arrive with single-SIM and dual-SIM dual standby (DSDS) models.

This year could be a unique one for Apple fans out there as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, hinted in his investor's note that there might be a dual-SIM 6.1-inch LCD model iPhone with a price starting at USD650 (~RM2528) and USD550 (~RM2139) for their single SIM model.

The price of the dual SIM iPhone could range from $650 to $750. According to the analyst, the iPhone 9 could see 100 million to 120 million units sold between and third quarters of 2018 and 2019.

"This report is reminiscent of an earlier Bloomberg report, that Apple may consider offering a dual-SIM in its largest 6.5" OLED iPhone in at least some regions.

Ranges nearly never break the 1-10 number system (leaving Apple only with 9 to play with, and it jumped that technically a year ago with iPhone X). The dual-SIM model has been rumored for sometime especially for markets like India and China where data connections are cheaper and consumers tend to have two mobile connections. According to Kuo, the 2018 lineup of Apple iPhones will start at a price of US$ 550.

The company opines that the iPhone X was launched very late in the month of October which hindered its sales along with its price tag.

Kuo also previously said that Apple will use Intel's XMM 7560 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X20 modems for faster LTE speeds and that the DSDS devices will support LTE+LTE connections to allow two SIM cards to be active simultaneously using one set of chips.

As spotted by French webiste Consomac, Apple recently registered a number of new devices with the The Eurasian Economic Commission - a Russian-language regulatory organisation.

Here's another interesting tidbit of information from Counterpoint's report: the iPhone X alone accounted for 35 percent of all industry profits during Q4 2017. The iPhone SE 2 might be available in Silver, Gold, and Space Grey like the iPhone 8. Pictured here is the original iPhone SE from 2016.

The estimate comes from a new report by Counterpoint Research, which says the iPhone X generated five times more profit than the combined profits of over 6,000 Android OEMs during the quarter. Following the previous SE model (which looked like the iPhone 5S), it will be the new entry-level version of the smartphones with the same design as the iPhone X.
