Loya death: SC says attempts to scandalise judiciary, dismisses pleas

On the plea that the judicial officers have to be cross-examined, as there are inherent contradictions in their statements, the bench said when there is very little proof that they are conspirators in a murder, the court must stand by the statements of the judicial officers. The investigation was done professionally by the Nagpur Police and all the evidence was presented in court, he said.

"The people will continue to question [the cause of death of Judge Loya] and continue to question the Supreme Court's judgment".

Judicial orders passed by Bombay High Court judges who were part of the probe were also drawn in to make insinuations against them.

Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani said in a tweet, "Truth reigns supreme with SC judgement and political ploy to malign judiciary & @AmitShah ji fails". Attacking the BJP for accusing Rahul as being the "invisible hand" behind the petitions seeking the probe, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala termed the allegations as a malicious attempt which showed the ruling party's jitteriness.

"We informed Mr Bhushan that a decision as to whether a judge should hear a case is a matter of conscience for the judge". Most Indians, including those in the BJP, instinctively understand the truth about Amit Shah.

The court said that the conduct of the petitioners and the intervenors "scandalised the process of the court and prima facie constitutes criminal contempt". "There are a number of unanswered questions", said Srinivas Loya, the uncle of the judge. "Hackeado por HighTech Brazil HackTeam (hacked by HighTech Brazil team)", read the message on the screenshot of the Supreme Court website shared by many on Twitter and WhatsApp.

Three of the judicial officers, the court said, had travelled with Judge Loya by train from Mumbai to Nagpur to attend a wedding reception.

The BJP held two news conferences over the Supreme Court judgment, underlining how important the issue was to the party.

Earlier, Maharashtra's Journalist B.N. Lone and Tehseen Poonawalla filed a petition in Supreme Court to initiate an independent probe in this matter.

The state government had defended its probe, which established that Loya's death was natural, and categorically stated that a fresh probe will "unnecessarily bring the judiciary into disrepute". "I urge Rahul Gandhi (Congress president) not to fight political battles through corridors of court", as per ANI.

February 19: SC says it was treating Loya's case with utmost seriousness and for a cause. But to take a leap of reason, based on nothing else but political motive, and implicating BJP president Amit Shah as being behind Loya's "murder" is to leave the woodwork of the courts and enter the paperback of crime thrillers.
