The Bears' climb back toward respectability began in January by upgrading the staff with coach Matt Nagy, a breath of fresh air who promises to modernize the offense as much as he has energized the building. Position versatility in our offensive line is important. But the Bears also could keep Whitehair at center, since some scouts believe Daniels has enough size, length and athleticism to make the move to guard. Everything revolved around helping Trubisky succeed.

Along with Miller, the Bears also added Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel to their wide receiver group. "So we felt really, really good about that pick".

But I know that they still won't be close to the talent of the NFL's best teams, and they will enter next year's construction handcuffed with the absence of a second-round pick.

Daniels was the best center in this draft, although Pace said the Bears will start him out at left guard, and nearly no receivers in this draft have had more buzz around them than Miller.

Now they'll be left to rely on free agent acquisition Aaron Lynch and third-year linebacker Leonard Floyd for an outside pass rush, while considering remaining unrestricted free agents or undrafted free agents.

"I'm putting that on hold and just trying to play as long as I can (with) the gift that God gave me", he said.

"I think you learn from all these experiences", Pace said. "It feels like it worked out that way, but a lot of it is just the way our board fell".

Weaker eurozone growth due to trade tensions, European Central Bank chief says
If growth shows signs of slowing that could be a reason to extend the bank's 30 billion euros ($36 billion) in bond purchases. But with the risk of a global trade war still looming, it may not make a decision until absolutely necessary.

A native of Warren, Ohio, Daniels is the 16th Hawkeye offensive lineman drafted since 2003.

"Young man looks like a player to me, " tweeted Olin Kreutz, the best Bears center ever.

The Chicago Bears selected Iowa offensive lineman James Daniels in the second round Friday. The Packers sent the first pick in the fourth round - the 101st overall - and a fifth-round selection to the Carolina Panthers to take Burks.

Daniels is looking forward to playing with Trubisky, who threw for five touchdowns and ran for one to lead Mentor over Harding in 2012.

Hopefully, Miller's hands are as strong as his ego. Like all of Ferentz's protégés, Daniels is technically sound and shows good quickness. "When he went to college, I was involved just because you always like to see players I played against in high school do good in college and when he got drafted by the Bears past year I was excited for him because he really tore my high school team apart".

It bodes well for the new reality.
