Tornado watch issued for central Kansas

Meanwhile, confidence is increasing for severe weather across most of eastern Kansas, including the KVOE listening area, for Wednesday.

For the past week, conditions have been mostly quiet across Central Illinois, which has meant mostly dry weather. A swath from Central Kansas to Southern Iowa is expected to feel the impact, including large hail, damaging wind, and even the possibility of tornadoes. On Tuesday, the activity moves into the Central Plains.

Over 25 million Americans in the central US are at risk for severe weather over the next three days and some of this severe weather could be significant.

May is essentially considered the start of severe weather season for Colorado. The strongest will have the potential to drop hail up to the size of baseballs, and strong tornadoes. Oklahoma City; Wichita, Kansas; and the Kansas City metro areas are all at risk. While some details remain uncertain, it appears increasing likely that a significant tornado threat will exist in this region by midweek.
