Although TDP party workers were the first to be arrested by local police and Chandrababu Naidu has seriously responded on the incident, BJP blaming Chandrababu has been now inviting flak from various sections. A TDP worker threw stones at Shah's convoy and broke the windshield of one of the vehicles.

The stone-pelting on one of the vehicles in the convoy of the BJP leader sparked off tension at Alipiri in Tirupati, sources said. "It is against our party discipline". The state BJP leaders accused Chandrababu Naidu behind the TDP leaders' protest against Amit Shah's convoy at the Alipiri.

"It seems to be a reaction to my comment that Naidu would have to face another Alipiri type of attack, if he tried to malign the BJP on the special category status issue". They were returning to the airport when the incident occurred. BJP led NDA government was trying to fullfill all the promises as per the AP Re-organisation Act, he said. "We have got only preliminary information and we are verifying all facts", he said.

He then offered prayers at the Lord Venkateswara shrine in Tirumala in the morning.

The BJP president arrived in Tirupati late after wrapping up his over a month-long election campaign in Karnataka.

Amit Shah had gone to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams along with his family when his convoy came under attack.

Naidu made these remarks in the view of BJP president Amit Shah's Tirupati visit, TDP's protests for Special Category status and slight tensions between the TDP and BJP workers in Tirupati on Friday.

The TDP said that Centre failed to fulfill its commitments toward Andhra Pradesh, after the state was bifurcated in 2014.
