Battlefield 5 ditches Premium season pass for live services component

As far as new modes and gameplay features, the devs are stressing that the battlefield itself will be a major character itself, and the terrain and world around you being destroyed will be taken to a new level. For those keeping track, this is one week later than its biggest competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (which was also revealed last week). Despite it being well-documented that women played a key role in WWII (though mostly not on the front lines), this decision to have a female front-and-center of Battlefield 5 has drawn criticism from some.

Today's EA DICE Battlefield V reveal stream contained a lot of goodies for fans of the long-running series.

Battlefield V is going to launch October 19 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will get early access on October 16, while EA and Origin Access members can make use of the Play First Trial on October 11.

The company explains that Battlefield 5 will be set in the lesser known regions during the second World War, including Rotterdam.

The big new mode for multiplayer in Battlefield V is Grand Operations, which builds upon the popular Operations mode first introduced in Battlefield 1, which similarly combines several modes and maps over one big match.

This time around it appears that Dice has put more emphasis on Operations, renaming it Grand Operations. It turns out that the upcoming Battlefield V will be doing away with premium passes for additional DLC.
