Ex-FBI official McCabe gives memo on Comey firing to Mueller

The president has said publicly that the Russian Federation case was on his mind when he fired Comey, though he tweeted Thursday that he "never fired James Comey because of Russian Federation!" Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

"Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey", Trump told Holt of his decision to fire Comey on May 9, 2017.

Oh for Pete's sake.

Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe gave special counsel Robert Mueller a memo documenting potentially critical conversations he had in the wake of the former FBI Director James Comey's firing, according to a new report from the New York Times.

"So, you got a group there, a lynching mob, so let them do their job and, boy, we're ready to knock the heck out of you with our report, which will be authoritative", Giuliani said.

The review is mostly focused on DOJ's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

On the Tuesday Fox News' segment, commentator Jessica Tarlov blasted Barr's derogatory tweets and said they're clearly "racist". Barr regularly attacks liberals on Twitter and peddles fringe conspiracy theories.

"Among the purposes of the disclosure was to rebut a narrative that had been developing following a story in the WSJ on October 23, 2016, that questioned McCabe's impartiality in overseeing FBI investigations involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and claimed that McCabe had ordered the termination of the [Clinton Foundation] Investigation due to Department of Justice pressure", the Inspector General said in its McCabe report. "They acted appropriately, these were not spies in the Trump campaign.' The president says the opposite - who's right?" But I said to myself I might even lengthen out the investigation. Mike Lee of Utah, who told CNN, "That's pretty strong language". Still, one consideration lingers: It takes an fantastic level of shamelessness to say something on national TV, then act like it never happened.

The White House initially said Trump fired Comey at the recommendation of Sessions and Rosenstein.

"I've talked with Director Mueller about this", Rosenstein said in an interview with The Associated Press a year ago. Or is the New York Times' scoop from yesterday a bit of old news that just happened to shake loose recently?

Trump's latest tweet also contradicts statements made by Rudy Giuliani - the former NY mayor who Trump hired to join his legal team last month - that indicated that the president's decision to fire Comey was in fact related to Comey's decision to not publicly clear Trump in the Russian Federation probe.

By the inspector general's telling, in seeking to advance his own interests, McCabe authorized two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials to talk to the Wall Street Journal about a story he believed would cast him as standing in the way of a probe of Hillary Clinton's foundation.

"He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn't a target of the investigation", Giuliani said earlier this month on Fox News "Hannity."
