Fallout 76 Revealed for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One

The vast majority of the Fallout games take place about a century after the bombs went off.

The teaser trailer for Fallout 76 was your stock-standard offering as far as Bethesda teaser trailers go, and we nearly certainly won't hear anything more official than the trailer itself ahead of the company's pre-E3 showing on June 10.

Fallout 76 celebrates reclamation day, as well as three hundred years of the United States, by beginning your next journey through the wasteland from Vault 76. Vault 76 has a role in the games' mythology, and today's Nerdist News is explaining why the new Fallout teaser reveals more than you think. The Fallout franchise is one of the most enduring in video games. My guess is that this is an expansion of Fallout 4's settlements system, to the point of not just building towns but entire working cities.

Kotaku's Jason Schreier has said it may be "an online game of sorts" and that those hoping for a massive solo experience will be disappointed. This new game looks to fit within the mold of Fallout 4 and its predecessors, and is developed by the main Bethesda Game Studios team. The vault doors were supposed to be opened 20 years after any nuclear war, which would have them opening in 2097.

After hours of frantic anticipation and even more frantic theorizing, Bethesda ended most of fans' suffering with the official announcement of Fallout 76.

UPDATE 3: Gamestop.ie has a release date of December 31st, 2018 for Fallout 76, though this may just be a placeholder. This means that it will be playable on the PC, the PS4 and the Xbox One.
