Jared Kushner and wife Ivanka Trump made at least $80 million in outside income previous year while working as White House advisers to President Donald Trump, according to newly-released financial disclosure forms. Ivanka Trump received almost $4 million from her stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., $2 million from the Trump Organization and $5 million from the trust that oversees her clothing brand.

The president's son-in-law and daughter together reported personal assets of between $240 million and $780 million by the end of 2017.

The Trumps and Kushner retained their ownership in their private businesses upon entering the White House, a decision that critics say has left them open to conflicts of interest and influence by foreign countries.

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump arrive for a State Dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and President Donald Trump at the White House in April 2018. On Monday, new financial disclosures revealed the the couple made at least $82 million in outside income a year ago.

She also made at least $5 million from a trust, created in March 2017, called Ivanka M. Trump Business Trust.

Kushner's income, for instance, included more than US$6 million from Quail Ridge, a Plainsboro, New Jersey, apartment complex the Kushner company, now run by his relatives, acquired a year ago.

The couple's income originates from a wide variety of sources, including investments, trusts, dozens of real estate transactions, a book advance of almost $300,000 for Ivanka Trump, and stakes in businesses like the almost $4 million Ivanka Trump earned from her interest in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

As CNN noted, the broad ranges come as a result of it being "impossible to calculate precise totals of income and assets because the documents - which are used throughout government - ask officeholders to disclose figures in ranges, such as '$100,000 to $1,000,000'". Based on the filings, CNN estimates Kushner's net worth is $174 million to $710 million and Trump's is $55 million to $75 million.

"Since joining the administration, Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics", said Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for the couple's ethics lawyer, Abbe Lowell.

A rep for the couple said they complied with all the ethics rules and their net worth has largely remained unchanged while working in the White House.

According to the disclosures, National security adviser John Bolton pulled in $2.2 million a year ago from organizations including Fox News, the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute, and the Gatestone Institute, an anti-Muslim think tank of which he previously served as chairman.
