First lady's shelter visit overshadowed by jacket

Melania was called out for wearing a jacket with 'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' written over it during her visit to US-Mexico border.

Trump wore a different pale yellow jacket when the plane landed in McAllen, Texas, for a visit to the Upbring New Hope Children's Center, which houses 55 migrant children. The high in the District on Friday, the first day of summer, was 86 degrees.

Colbert pointed out that the First Lady's spokesperson issued a statement asserting, "It's a jacket... there was no hidden message". While she chose to wear a cream jacket during her visit, it was the $39 green Zara jacket she wore before and after the visit that bore a controversial message that many deemed to be "tone deaf".

"But, today, on her way to show that she cares, Melania wore a jacket that says, 'I really don't care, do u?'" he added. Until that theoretical moment, we have the memes on one of the digisphere's most ideal blank canvases: Her green $39 jacket - one so five seasons ago, no less.

It's the back, where "I really don't care, do u?" was placed by the global mass market brand Zara, that has become social media's playground, from the compassionate to the downright raunchy.

Melania Trump makes surprise visit to migrant child facility in Texas
Mrs Trump, who often campaigns for the right of children, was a strong force behind her husband's policy U-turn. He said: "Ivanka feels very strongly, my wife feels very strongly about it, I feel very strongly about it".

Melania visited the border to meet the children of immigrant families who had been left behind due to Trump administration's Zero Tolerance policy.

President Trump had cited the influence of Melania and his daughter, Ivanka, in his signing the Executive Order. The first lady famously wore sky-high stilettos while visiting Hurricane Harvey victims previous year, the internet still hasn't forgiven her for sporting a $1,380 Balmain shirt to a hands-on gardening event at the White House, and who could forget the time she wore a bright-pink pussy-bow blouse just days after footage surfaced of her husband instructing Billy Bush to "grab" women by that very private body part?

Donald Trump, however, tweeted that his wife's jacket was indeed meant to send a message, but not about the immigrant children.

For a first lady as quiet as Trump, her fashion is analyzed thoroughly. If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children.

Kimmel wondered whether Fox News would have a similar reaction to Melania's attire as they did when Michelle Obama dared to show her bare arms.
