Goodbye, Geoffrey: Toys R Us closing its last stores

In addition to online platforms like Inc, analysts have pointed to Walmart Inc, Target Corp, JC Penney Co Inc, Kohls Corp and Bed Bath & Beyond as chains that could pick up market share from Toys "R" Us. The company, which also owned the Babies R Us chain, was hobbled by $5 billion in debt after a leveraged buyout that left it unable to invest and keep up.

A new post from the Toys "R" Us Facebook page is teasing that the brand isn't quite done yet, a post that reads "Stay tuned here for news and information on the next chapter for Geoffrey and the iconic Toys "R" Us brands".

KB Toys, which filed for bankruptcy and closed all USA stores in 2009, is also said to be mulling a comeback.

Madelyn Garcia, who has worked at Toys R Us for 30 years and became a manager at the Boynton Beach store in September, told The Palm Beach Post that the Toys R Us team is a "family" and therefore should be compensated properly. "I was surrounded by children".
