With Paul George in town, Russell Westbrook hosting 'summer hype house party'

George has opted out of the final year of his deal and has become a free agent.

The 24-year-old forward has made great strides during his two seasons in Oklahoma City, and he figures to play a big part in where the team goes from here.

George announced his decision at a party in Oklahoma City shortly after Wojnarowski's report. "I'm here to stay", Paul said in the video, where he was standing next to Thunder team mate Russell Westbrook.

It was reported just before midnight on the East coast that George has agreed to re-sign with the Thunder. It was thought for a long time that George and fellow free agent star LeBron James could head to the Lakers together.

According to a KOCO 5 News report in Oklahoma City, the National Basketball Association star chose to stay with the Thunder for another season. But considering the Thunder would be well north of $25 million over the luxury tax line in that scenario, that would take Oklahoma City's combined payroll and luxury taxes up to roughly $255 million.
