Guitar man Kevin Anderson wants rhythm not blues against Roger Federer

That it happened to be in straights, it helps me for the season and to save energy for the rest of the tournament.

Mannarino put up much more of a fight in the second set, which appeared to be heading towards a tie-break until the 36-year-old Swiss broke in the 11th game, and then successfully served it out. He had three break-point opportunities during the third set but saved them all. Novak Djokovic saved match points in consecutive US Open semi-finals against Federer to deny the NY crowd their dream final.

The fifth-seeded del Potro failed to convert four match points when serving at 5-4 in the fourth set, but maintained his composure to close out the contest with his first opportunity in the tiebreaker that followed.

Del Potro went on to the semi-finals at Wimbledon five years ago and it took Novak Djokovic to halt him in a five-set epic played out over four and a half hours.

"It is an important moment for me".

"He's a big-match player", Djokovic said of the former US Open runner-up.

"He started to play better from the baseline and I made a couple of mistakes with the game I lost with my serve".

"It's definitely helped a certain style of player, maybe the big servers", said 20-time major victor Federer.

Trump scolds North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members days ahead of summit
Trump has shown his affinity for closed-door meetings already during his historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un last month.

Finally free off a painful and persistent elbow injury and blissfully content again in his private life, the Serbian plays another comeback star in Kei Nishikori for a drought-breaking semi-final berth.

Eight-time champion Federer will be playing in his 53rd Grand Slam last-8 when he tackles either Gael Monfils of France or Kevin Anderson, the 8th-seeded South African.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is realistic about who he wants to face should he reach the Wimbledon final this year.

But on July 4, 2011, Djokovic did just that, becoming world No 1 for the first time.

In a sense, it is one more bullet point that belongs on the list of Federer's contributions to tennis when he retires: 20 Grand Slam titles (and counting); eight Wimbledon titles (and counting); and unofficial coach and mentor to the next generation that both reveres and hopes to supplant him one day, as he did Sampras almost two decades ago. But from what I've seen from him in the last couple of days, he looks like he's playing really, really well. Thereafter it was Federer's familiar playground as he rattled off ridiculously easy wins over Dusan Lajovic, Lukas Lacko, Jan-Lennard Struff and Adrian Mannarino, a Who's Who of "Who?" to many.

When asked what he admired about defending champion Federer, the 32-year-old Anderson was happy to reel off an exhaustive check-list.

The second seed defeated Jiri Vesely 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court.
