The actor and father-of-two was flung meters into the air when he slammed into an oncoming auto.

Hollywood star George Clooney was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries in a collision involving his motorbike and a vehicle, the BBC reports.

George Clooney was reportedly involved in a motorbike accident Tuesday.

Surveillance video of the crash, apparently taken by a fixed security video, was obtained by the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

A spokesman for the actor told the Press Association: "George Clooney was treated and released from an Olbia hospital".

Clooney was riding the scooter near Olbia when a vehicle cut across the actor's path at an intersection, resulting in a collision, Lt. Alberto Cicognani of the Carabinieri Italian military force said to NBC News.

Sources have told TMZ that George was doing 60 miles per hour when a auto suddenly pulled in front of him.

"The auto driver called the 112, the emergency number of Carabinieri, and they sent the Municipal Police, an ambulance and the Fire Dept".

He was rushed to the island's John Paul II Hospital following the "horror" crash, but while injured, he is not believed to be in critical condition.

The actor went to the hospital after complaining of a slight pain in his pelvis and bruises to the leg, La Nuova reported, but was released after tests showed he was fine. Clooney is in Sardinia to film a miniseries based on Joseph Heller's book "Catch 22", the news agency said.

Clooney is a frequent visitor to Italy. He has a home on Lake Como and was married in Venice in 2014 to the British human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.
