Ex-FBI Lawyer Testifies to House Panels on 2016 Anti-Trump Texts

Republican lawmakers contend that former FBI lawyer Lisa Page provided new information during private testimony Friday that further convinces them political bias marred the investigations of Hillary Clinton's emails and the Trump campaign's alleged ties to Russian Federation.

Speaking with CNN, Cohen took a jab at Fox News while explaining: "I said something at the hearings yesterday about Purple Hearts which another network that is named for a four-legged animal has been making a big deal about".

Strzok's opinions about Trump dominated his Thursday hearing, as GOP lawmakers took him to task over his texts and pressed him - usually unsuccessfully - to reveal information about investigative steps and decisions he made in the Russian Federation probe. "We did not see the smug attitude that we saw from Strozk".

"I think it's important when you look at those texts that you understand the context in which they were made and the things going on across America", said Strzok.

Whether you believe Strzok's account of what he was thinking, the fact is that the Federal Bureau of Investigation said little about Russian meddling before Election Day 2016.

After the top Democrat on the Oversight panel, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, erected large posters of the individuals indicted so far in the government's Russian Federation probe, Goodlatte ordered them taken down, calling them "inappropriate".

"In the majority's view, we do not have time to conduct oversight on nearly any national security issue - but we have hours on end to discuss Mr. Strzok's extramarital affair", Nadler said.

"It's a fraud, this hearing is a kangaroo court, it is a three-ring circus", Democratic Representative Hakeem Jeffries said more than six hours into the hearing.

Goodlatte threatened to hold Strzok in contempt at the end of the hearing if he did not answer Gowdy's question.

But there was one bombshell revelation that our friend Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-1) dropped during the hearing for which Strzok had no arrogant parry.

Though they offered no specifics, several GOP congressmen characterized Page as "cooperative", "forthcoming", and "transparent" during her interview with the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees. She wondered if it was time to remove the cameras from congressional hearings.

But there were "no calls for medication today", Krishnamoorthi said.

Strzok insisted under aggressive questioning that a much-discussed August 2016 text in which he said "we'll stop" a Trump presidency followed Trump's denigration of the family of a dead USA service member.

In his first public comments since private text messages between Strzok and Page were disclosed, the agent concluded opening remarks with a pointed broadside against his antagonisers. Strzok further went on to emphasize that no text he sent would ever influence his conduct in an investigation against the president, and that Republican attempts to undermine the FBI were a "victory notch in Putin's belt". "It's mandatory." Page served as the deputy counsel to then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and worked briefly for the Mueller team, but was taken off the special counsel's staff when the text messages were discovered.

Meadows had said he had "lots of questions" for Page as he walked into the interview. They allowed Strzok's former lover Lisa Page to delay her committee appearance - originally scheduled for Wednesday - until after she had ample opportunity to observe his televised testimony.

"They haven't come up with a scintilla of evidence; no facts, that the president had anything to do with the Russians", he said.
