Since the start of 2018, Liverpool have been strongly linked with an approach for the Brazil worldwide due to the inconsistent form of both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

It had been reported previously that Los Blancos were Alisson's preferred destination, but Liverpool are now the firm favourites.

The Reds have made a new keeper a priority but after the Champions League final, it became more of a necessity.

It's a position that's been a problem for Liverpool over a number of seasons, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both struggling with consistent and continual errors in big matches.

Italian newspaper Il Messaggero claims that Liverpool have officially bid €60 million bid plus €10 million in add-ons for the 25-year-old but Roma continue to hold tough on their €80 million valuation.

Chelsea are a club also believed to be interested in the players services, with Thibaut Courtouis potentially making a move to Real Madrid after his World Cup performances.

He kept 17 clean sheets in Serie A last season, the join second highest in the league - behind only Pepe Reina on 18 - with mistakes coming few and far between.

Alisson is the number one choice for the Brazil National team and played in every game for Brazil at the World Cup in Russian Federation. The Liverpool manager has also considered Danny Ward during pre-season but is edging closer to addressing a long-standing issue at Anfield with the bid for Alisson.
