When word came through, just after 3pm, on the final day of the summer transfer window that Liverpool had rejected a bid for Ragnar Klavan, many joked that Manchester United were getting desperate.

Ings has been available to leave Liverpool throughout the summer, but the Saints did not complete a loan deal for the forward until the closing minutes of the transfer window on Thursday.

Southampton manager Mark Hughes thinks the Danny Ings signing is a "win-win" for all parties.

"We have admired him for some time now, not only for his ability, but also his character and personality, which we feel will be an ideal fit in our dressing room".

Turned down by the club for being too small at the age of 10, the 26-year-old striker is now finally a Saints player after going via AFC Bournemouth, Burnley and Liverpool. "He's obviously a local boy, who gives us another excellent option up front and has a real point to prove".

Later this afternoon it was reported that Danny Ings wasn't at Liverpool's training ground today, as he waited on stand by for the green light to undergo a medical.

Manafort team attacks star witness over affair, fraud and 'so many lies'
Prosecutors have pointed out that Manafort listed the Manhattan loft as a rental on his tax returns in previous years. "Mr. He was so desperate, prosecutors say, that he allegedly falsified loan application documents to keep himself afloat.

He said: "It is a very odd feeling saying goodbye to Danny".

The club had been hoping to sell the England worldwide but few clubs were willing to splash out the €20m asking price for a player who has been hit with a number of injuries in recent years.

"He is such an outstanding boy". But we won't just miss his character because he is a footballer who has all the tools.

It was unclear whether Southampton had got the paperwork in on time.

"So we say farewell to a friend, but for Danny I know the best chapters in his personal story are still to be written".

It's why the other emotion is that of being pleased for Danny that he has such a good move and his future is now very bright.

Ings arrived at Liverpool in 2015 after a great season with Burnley and was expected to do big things with the Reds but two serious knee injuries put paid to that and he is now on a mission to resurrect what was a hugely promising career.
