Fortnite for Android not officially available on Play Store: Google

Epic Games recently made the controversial decision to release the Android version of Fortnite on its own website rather than through the Google Play Store.

If you're running Android 9 Pie on a compatible phone, you can download Digital Wellbeing now from the Google Play Store.

When Epic Games launched Fortnite on Android earlier this week, it did so in an unprecedented manner.

This long waiting time has perhaps lead to some impatience, and thus users are using an APK to download Android Fortnite before it's release. No-name developers often blatantly rip off aspects of popular games like their names and app icons off, misleading people who don't know better to install them. As spotted by a Reddit user, searching for Fortnite or Fortnite Battle Royale will yield a warning saying the game isn't available on the Play Store. The game will appear in the Samsung Game Launcher and in the Galaxy Apps store.

Facebook asks big banks to share customer details
But word Facebook is fishing for financial information comes amid concerns it has not vigilantly guarded private information. The statement follows a story in the Wall Street Journal that said the social media giant had asked USA banks for such data.

Because there are no Android servers yet, this is the only way for Android players to get into a live game now.

Unlike on iOS where Apple completely controls where you get your apps i.e the App Store, on Android devices users can choose to get their apps from anywhere they want.

Epic Games' free-to-play multiplatform game just crossed the billion-dollar threshold thanks to in-game purchases where players pay upgrades to customize their characters.

Even more concerning than the malware threat with just Fortnite for Android, however, is what this could mean for other app developers going forward. It can continue to come in the form of a fake version of Fortnite, much like the way malware was attacking those looking for Fortnite for Android well before it was released.
