Sanchez tells Mourinho to sign big players with experience

It was reported earlier this week that Manchester United would be forced to pay Jose Mourinho a whopping £12 million if they chose to sack him this season.

It means they go into their first Premier League game of the season against Leicester City at Old Trafford tonight without signing the centre-back Mourinho (right) asked for during pre-season.

But he complained about what he sees as preferential treatment afforded to the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.

Paul Pogba revealed that Manchester United do not have a designated penalty-taker, following an on-pitch discussion with Alexis Sanchez in their Premier League-opening 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday.

Jose Mourinho has cut a miserable figure all summer after only signing Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant. By United's calculations he had simply missed too much football through injury over the last three years - playing no more than 19 league games in each season.

"I said that during pre-season - it looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, it looked like I was saying something insane - but I repeat, pre-season is hard when you don't have your players to work with".

It provides them the opportunity to approach players in the Premier League like they've never been able to before - it's quite intriguing really.

Leicester looked startled by United's early intensity but began to fell their way into the match as debutant James Maddison impressed and their wide men made in-roads. United said they were happy to be kept informed. "I hope I can work with him again someday".

The team has World Cup victor Paul Pogba leading the midfield, and Belgium star Romelu Lukaku manning the attack with Alexis Sanchez.

"Martial didn't have a preseason", said Mourinho.

"But it's the same conversation as with [Ashley] Young, [Marouane] Fellaini, [Jesse] Lingard, it's the same".

"I had only two options, Scott (McTominay) or Paul, but if I play Scott I play two kids and a new player, so I asked Paul and he put himself available for the team and he was very, very good for us".

"To know how they feel physically mentally to try to give us a help, if they feel they can help us, 20 minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour".
