Punjab Confirms Navjot Singh Sidhu's Invite For Imran Khan's Swearing

Recalling his association with Imran, Sidhu said, his indomitable spirit and ability to lead from the front has been the hallmark of Imran's towering personality and his ascend to the prime ministership is set to give a new beginning to the India-Pakistan relations in the coming times.

"I have always said that we wish to have good neighbourly relations".

A video of the same was released by Pakistan-based Dawn News. But it has support of several smaller parties and it is expected to get support of at least 180 lawmakers in the election for speaker, deputy speaker and prime minister.

"Imran Khan to take oath as Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 18th Aug 2018 inshALLAH (if God wills)", Javed tweeted.

PTI has already sent out official invitations to close friends of Imran Khan including Indian cricketing legends Kapil Dev, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sunil Gavaskar to attend the oath-taking ceremony. The session will be attended by the newly-elected members of the National Assembly, who will be taking oath as Member National Assembly (MNA). The actor recently made headlines after she bestowed praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi terming him as the 'rightful leader of democracy.' She also batted in favour of a second term for the Prime Minister.

In a statement on 28 July, India's foreign ministry said that New Delhi desired a "prosperous and progressive Pakistan at peace with its neighbours". "We should sit across (the table) and resolve the issues instead of we blaming India for problems in Balochistan and they blame us for problems in Kashmir".

Khan's public statement had followed India's engagement with his team through the High Commission in Islamabad.
