Emery came under scrutiny from various members of the football community after Arsenal's 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The Gunners began their campaign with a 2-0 loss to champions Manchester City at the Emirates.

"I am very happy with his performance", the Spaniard said.

Petr Cech and Bernd Leno are competing for the goalkeeping spot at Arsenal. "He has experience, he has quality, he has the capacity", he added.

The 36-year-old appeared to struggle with Emery's new approach of playing the ball out from defence in Sunday's season opener, nearly scoring an own goal in the 2-0 defeat as he looked uncomfortable in possession.

United States threatens more sanctions on Turkey over detained pastor

Impressive stuff, but will it be enough for him to earn a start on Saturday?

Replying to the video, they tweeted 'in case you were all wondering how to play out of the back', posting a video of the recent departure Leno playing the ball out confidently from the back eventually leading to a Leverkusen goal.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles was drafted in to start at left-back against Pep Guardiola's men but the 20-year-old limped off midway through the first half and it's been confirmed he's out for up to two months with a fractured leg. Another rule implemented by Conte during his two years in charge at the West London club involved the squad needing to spend the night together at Chelsea Harbour Hotel before evening games at Stamford Bridge. I want a consistency in our way.

"It's clear that we don't want to have injuries in the team". Luckily for the Gunners, Nacho Monreal has returned to full training and could deputize against Chelsea, or Stephan Lichtsteiner could move over from right back to play left back.

Arsenal's wretched away form in the Premier League last season is what cost them a place in the top four and finally Wenger his job.
