Paul Pogba slams Red Devils' attitude after Brighton defeat

Anthony Martial was recalled by Jose Mourinho for Manchester United's Premier League trip to Brighton on Sunday as Alexis Sanchez missed out through injury.

On United's pre-season tour the Portuguese pointed to the opening two matches as problematic due to the number of players missing because of holidays taken after Russian Federation 2018.

Martial replaces Rashford and Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez are the players who make way as part of the other changes, with Jose Mourinho confirming he picked up a knock in training.

Romelu Lukaku responded for United to halve the deficit after Murray and Duffy's goals, but just as they were getting back into the game, the visitors conceded a penalty and Gross restored the two-goal cushion.

"We made mistakes and we were punished by our mistakes", he said.

Elsewhere, second-half goals from skipper Troy Deeney and Will Hughes gave Watford a 3-1 win at Burnley. A win or even a draw against one of the best teams in the league would go a long way in proving that Brighton deserves their spot.

And Mourinho would not criticise his players, believing that he would receive unfavourable media coverage after alleged disputes with the likes of Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba.

"Last season when I was critical of my team and was debating openly of the performances I was criticised for being too open about my players".

"I know the feelings of players and it's not so hard to raise your game for this type of game".

Speaking in an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports, Mourinho didn't refer to any particular passage of the documentary, entitled "All or Nothing: Manchester City".

"It's definitely not good enough", Pogba said. "The attitude we had was not like we wanted to beat them, they had more hunger than us".

Brighton took control in the first half-hour thanks to two goals in the space of 143 seconds, with Murray clipping a delightful finish past David de Gea before Duffy swept home after United failed to clear a corner.

"It's lump it forward, play off the bits and see where we go from that".
