'Truth isn't truth', says Trump lawyer

In an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday, Rudy Giuliani supplied the latest evidence that President Donald Trump and his legal team are abandoning their efforts to claim that a meeting the president's son had with a Russian lawyer in 2016 was not held for the purposes of gathering opposition research on Hillary Clinton from a foreign power. Giuliani insisted, as he has on previous occasions per CNN, that Mueller would attempt to set a "perjury trap" for Trump if Trump were to testify in the Special Counsel's investigation into collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

"It's somebody's version of the truth, not the truth", he said, telling NBC's Chuck Todd: "Truth isn't truth". Meet the Press host Chuck Todd pushed back, and this culminated in the former NYC Mayor saying, "Truth isn't truth".

"No it isn't! Truth isn't truth!".

The interviewer put his hand on his forehead and said: "This is going to become a bad meme!". You, you told me, you, you asked me, you know, did they show an intention to do anything with Russians? Comey says, "You did talk about it".

It was Giuliani's practical deployment of the idea that truth is subjective, though, that was probably more meaningful.

New York Magazine doesn't even bother explaining the context of the exchange in their story; Politico buries the revelation 333 words into the piece; The Guardian, which also takes 333 words to get to the context of the exchange also leaves out a crucial piece, that Todd actually agreed with Giuliani on his point.

Channel 5 representatives and Stormy's team did not respond to requests for comment. We had been talking to her people all morning, back and forth.

"In fairness to Giuliani, the Ken Bone of 9/11, that was not the dumbest thing he said in that interview", Oliver continued. Giuliani recently told the Wall Street Journal that Trump would not sit for an interview after September 1 because it might interfere with the midterm elections in November.

Rudy Giuliani is concerned about investigators' potential approach to a Donald Trump interview on Russian Federation probe. Maybe you know because you're a genius. "No, it isn't truth", remarked Giuliani.

In his tweet, Comey emphasized "Truth has always been the touchstone of our country's justice system and political life".

Trump, who has long attacked media with whom he disagrees as "fake news", has recently taken to describing journalists as the "enemy of the people". "If we are untethered to truth, our justice system can not function and a society based on the rule of law dissolves", Comey tweeted.
