Manchester United boss turns up early, then stays for just

Jose Mourinho told his players to cut out the sloppy mistakes after admitting Manchester United got what they deserved at Brighton.

"I'm not the right guy to answer", he said and he was equally tight-lipped when asked to evaluate central defenders Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof's performances.

Reports on Thursday claimed the 22-year-old had made a decision to stay and fight for his Old Trafford future, despite manager Jose Mourinho demanding he be sold.

Mourinho is reportedly at war with United's Chief Executive Ed Woodward over the lack of transfer activity this summer.

Those comments provoked the ire of former United midfielder Paul Scholes, who said there was "no defence" for such remarks.

Mourinho spoke for around eight minutes - much shorter than is normal - and said he had not read reports suggesting a falling out between the two.

"You do the same when you win, you have to move on and focus what next and when you lose you have to do even more. So a hard match".

"He's in the public eye and I'm sure he knows how to deal with that, but he's one of the best players".
