Liverpool title victor Gillespie: Karius made right decision with Besiktas

Goalkeeper Loris Karius has left Liverpool to join Besiktas on a two-year loan deal.

Karius has been facing serious criticism from Liverpool fans because of the two mistakes he made against Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev.

The 25-year-old had come under fire after his bad performance in the Champions League final and mistakes in pre-season games with Tranmere Rovers and Borussia Dortmund.

"It's good for him", Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the Reds' 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Liverpool summer signing Alisson Becker arrived at Anfield with a then world-record price for a goalkeeper but he has already begun justifying the £65million price tag.

"I find it freaky that Karius is [on loan], while I also had options to be [loaned]", he told Het Laatste Nieuws. "I've always been clear: I want to play". But for some reason that was not possible.

Number two or number three makes little difference. I like the save from the header more than the chip, but the chip was the right thing to do in that situation'.

Besiktas jumped the gone somewhat by releasing a video welcoming Karius during Liverpool's latest match.

'I'm proud to be part of the famous Besiktas family now, ' he said. We shall see what happens this week.

Loris Karius has thanked Liverpool's fans for their support over his Champions League final horror show following his loan move to Besiktas.

"I watched Alisson and he looked good with his feet, though a few things came off him from parrying".
