In latest White House exit, Donald Trump to lose counsel Don McGahn

McGahn is far from the first person in the White House to be blindsided by a Trump tweet.

Klayman added, current White House counsel to the president, Emmet Flood "seems to be pretty good in terms of an internal counsel to the White House", but saying "what the president does need are better outside lawyers, as I've said over and over again".

"Of course it happened this way", McGahn reportedly said, according to a person familiar with McGahn. Trump wrote on Twitter.

In July, McGahn was chosen to reprise that role, overseeing Trump's selection of Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

The 50-year-old McGahn would become the latest in a long line of officials who have left Trump's 19-month presidency, either officials who have been fired, pushed out or voluntarily departed. Besides dealing with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, McGahn has had important input on a range of issues from policy to personnel to national security.

The length of the Mueller-McGahn sessions led Trump to the conclusion the special counsel is "looking for trouble" because they "they know there is no Russian Collusion".

Earlier this month, The New York Times reported that McGahn had "cooperated extensively" with Mueller's team, taking part in at least three interviews totaling 30 hours. "He's super well-respected around the building but there's not a plan locked in place at this point".

I like the save from the header more than the chip, but the chip was the right thing to do in that situation'. Goalkeeper Loris Karius has left Liverpool to join Besiktas on a two-year loan deal.

"I have worked with Don for a long time and truly appreciate his service!" the president's tweet said.

"Don's significance to the judiciary, the White House and the nation can not be overstated, and I look forward to his continued efforts on behalf of our country", McConnell added.

Flood would be "an excellent choice", Trump's outside lawyer Rudy Giuliani told TIME during a telephone interview on Wednesday. It's possible they could pursue impeachment charges, and Trump's legal team does not have the experience to handle such matters, the Post reports; he's talked with advisers about having Abbe Lowell, the defense lawyer representing his son-in-law Jared Kushner, come on board if necessary.

According to people familiar with the matter who spoke to the Post, McGahn was not angered by Trump's tweeted, but rather saw it as the exact way he'd expect the Twitter President to behave.

As White House counsel, McGahn was charged with untangling a thicket of conflicts of interest between Trump's global business interests and his presidency.

Mr McGahn had acted as liaison between the administration and justice officials involved with the Russian Federation inquiry.

As White House counsel, McGahn played a key role in Trump's efforts to revamp the federal judiciary with relatively young conservative justices.
