No details about the patients' conditions were released, nor was there confirmation of the total number of injured.

Jesse Benge, a truck driver hauling strawberries and blueberries from California to North Carolina, said he was headed east on I-40 shortly after the crash occurred.

Initial reports from the department said at least four people were killed, before the death toll increased to seven.

Where was the bus traveling?

New Mexico authorities say seven people have been killed in a commercial passenger bus crash along Interstate 40 on its way to Phoenix.

A tire blew out on the eastbound truck, which jumped the grass median to hit the bus travelling in the opposite direction, police officer Ray Wilson told a news conference. Injuries to the driver of the semi-trailer truck were not life threatening, state police said.

They could not immediately say how many people were injured.

Several described seeing passengers on the ground, screaming and crying.

When is the Champions League group stage draw and match dates?
There are a few banana skins in Pot 4 , but AEK Athens, as well as Viktoria Plzen, should be easy enough to overcome. The Russian champions are easily the weakest team in pot one and Dortmund will be hoping wind up in their group.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone as we continue to give our support to all affected", Greyhound spokeswoman Crystal Booker told NPR in an emailed statement.

This is not the first deadly crash involving a passenger bus in the state in recent months. "Many bus passengers were transported with serious injuries".

Greyhound said there were 49 passengers on board when the crash happened.

Traffic driving westbound is diverted along a frontage road as police investigate an accident between a semi and a Greyhound bus on Thursday on Interstate 40.

"Officers and EMS teams are still working the scene actively", state police tweeted.

Images from the scene showed a semi-truck on its side and the bus with front-end damage.
