Rafa Benitez's side would have been looking to have produced the same kind of display as they had against Chelsea last weekend, but they did not get off to the best start.

Kyle Walker's brilliant second-half strike preserved Premier League champions Manchester City's unbeaten start to the season as they secured a battling victory over winless Newcastle. "It's nearly impossible after the World Cup, after what happened last season, mentally for the players and everybody to be in the best condition".

"The game was quite good and OK we have one trophy before the worldwide break and 10 points from 12". Although they were held to a draw by Wolves in their last outing, they beat Arsenal 2-0 at The Emirates and thumped Huddersfield Town 6-1 in their only home game of the new campaign so far.

"Against Tottenham, we were really positive and really strong and I think the opponent, a very good opponent, felt that and felt they were really in trouble".

Sane, who was a surprise omission from Germany's World Cup squad in the summer, has hardly featured in City's three league games this season.

Deputy shoots gunman at Del Mar Racetrack before Ice Cube concert
At 7:22 p.m., Del Mar Racetrack tweeted that the incident had been contained and that the concert was taking place as planned. Several deputies administered first aid to a man on the ground as they waited for EMTs to arrive, according to the footage.

Guardiola will have to rotate his squad when City are playing three games a week. We would like to score more goals but we created the chances.

Guardiola has pledged to omit the Brazilian at times, though he accepts he is hard to replace, explaining: "Fernandinho is a gift".

Benitez deployed five men in defence in Newcastle's last two games against Chelsea and Manchester City, but both ended in 2-1 losses.

Goal understands that Sane had been dropped because Guardiola is unhappy with his focus, and that omitting him from the squad will help get him back on track.

Newcastle fans, naturally, would have been disappointed with the result, although many believed losing by one goal to Man City is a bonus in itself.
