Florence weakens but forecast to intensify, setting possible path toward Eastern Seaboard

Hurricane Florence maintained its Category 3 storm status Thursday as it moved toward Bermuda and potentially the East Coast.

This time a year ago, residents of the Lowcountry were watching Hurricane Irma, then a Category 5 storm, make its way toward the eastern United States.

The second storm is now a tropical wave off the west coast of Africa that in its early stages is far more advanced than either Florence or Disturbance 1.

The other is wind shear. Given the uncertainty, we encourage all interests along the U.S. East Coast to closely monitor the progression of Florence.
