Warner Bros., meanwhile, have been equally vague.

According to THR, Henry Cavill has left the DCEU and will no longer be playing Superman.

This week multiple reports surfaced that Henry Cavill would be handing in his Superman cape following an alleged dispute with Warner Bros. over his unavailability for a cameo appearance in Shazam!

While Moss cut short that argument, he stressed the importance of the investigation to the integrity of American democracy. He said in court that his "entire life has been turned upside down" and he hoped "for a second chance to redeem myself".

Based on all the reports that have been coming out from various folks since that initial report from THR this morning, it looks like news of Henry Cavill leaving the DCEU is something that lots of trades have been sitting on for a bit.

So, if Cavill is still onboard to play Superman, and Warner Bros. still have a good relationship with him, where's this story coming from?

Representatives for Cavill didn't return messages on Wednesday however, Cavill's agent Dany Garcia tweeted a cryptic message about the situation on Wednesday before the studio released the statement. The teaser trailer and early images for Shazam! established the film as existing in the same world as Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman and Justice League, and Jack Dylan Grazer's Freddy Freeman as an avid collector of superhero memorabilia.

If the reports are true Cavill will join Ben Affleck, who sources say will not be reprising his role as The Dark Knight in the forthcoming Batman solo film. He's very protective of the character, is a fan of the comic books, and respects the history and signifigance of the Man of Steel.

It was announced last week that Henry has been cast in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia, the main character in the popular fantasy universe that's previously been adapted into a hit video game franchise.

The only member of DC's holy trinity that now seems to have no plans to leave is Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, which makes sense since she received critical acclaim for her performance in Wonder Woman (which also earned DC high praise and some serious box office returns). When the company tried to get him to appear as Superman in their upcoming feature film, Shazam!, Cavill was already co-starring in Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
