Rashford developing quicker than Ronaldo did - Southgate

Marcus Rashford went into the global break under a cloud, after being red-carded for rashly lowering his head into Phil Bardsley's face during Manchester United's 2-0 win at Burnley, but he emerges from it as one of the few players to have scored points - and the only one to have scored any goals - for England.

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan believes teammate Harry Maguire looks like he has been in the England set-up for years, calling him a "revelation".

Southgate insisted after being outplayed for the majority of a 2-1 defeat by Spain in his side's inaugural Nations League encounter on Saturday that England must persist with his intention to improve on playing out from the back under pressure.

"We want to have an environment that's demanding because that's the only way we can keep raising the standards".

That, in itself, is a relief, a positive, in a game that provided precious few others.

However, the Three Lions again failed to hit the heights from their World Cup campaign, particularly in a poor first 45 minutes that provoked strong words between the players at half-time. "They were frustrated after the first half". He's got that upper body strength, holds people off and brings people into play as he did for the first goal against Spain. The first half was quite predictable really. He still got goals but he's never quite looked like the Harry Kane we know.

Nicki Minaj Says Altercation With Cardi B Was 'Mortifying and Humiliating'
Cardi B has posted a lengthy message, calling out her long-time rumored rival and even hints as to why the fight even happened. Nicki will not be pressing charges against Cardi , after instigated the smack-down and tossing her shoe at her.

Speaking after the game, Southgate said: 'I think he's going to get matches at his club.

England have a genuine striker who can help shoulder the burden alongside - and not just as a under-study to - Harry Kane.

'If he didn't play today, he would have gone out and done some running on the pitch.

"He's got two goals this week, some of his performances with us have been really good but to finish with two really good finishes is very important for him". "All of us, we weren't happy with the performance at halftime".

With the youngster set for a spell on the sidelines at club level, Southgate was keen to give him a big role for England.

Ronaldo's nine goals in the 27 internationals he had played by the same age outweighs Rashford's tally of five - although only 11 of the latter's caps have come from games which he has started compared to Ronaldo's 19.
