Kavanaugh: Clarence Thomas 2.0?

The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a public hearing on the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh for next Monday, a congressional source tells CNN.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday on "Special Report" that Democrats had "every chance" to put forward allegations of assault against Judge Brett Kavanaugh "the right way". He said he was reserving judgement on whether he believed Judge Kavanaugh's denials of the allegations, while noting that there are "gaps" in the "memory" of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who came forward publicly on Sunday with the allegations that Kavanuagh assaulted her when they were teenagers.

While Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the committee, has been criticized for how she's handled the allegations, she also expressed disappointment in Republicans and the Trump administration for "failing to take even the most basic steps to investigate this matter".

Kavanaugh, who was nominated by President Donald Trump, said in a statement Monday that Ford's accusation was "completely false". Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a statement Monday. "If we don't hear from both sides on Monday, let's vote", Corker posted on Twitter late Tuesday night.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.

A draft letter, appearing to be signed by more than 200 Holton-Arms alumnae from 1967 to 2018, called for an investigation into the allegation and said Ford's experience is one that is "all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton".

And it said North Korea is violating sanctions by transferring coal at sea and flouting an arms embargo and financial sanctions. South Korea suspended operations at the complex in 2016 after North Korea carried out its fourth nuclear test.

In a statement issued Friday, Hill said, "I have seen firsthand what happens when such a process is weaponized against an accuser, and no one should have to endure that again".

Ford named Mark Judge, a classmate of Kavanaugh's, as a witness to the incident at the high school party, but Judge told the Weekly Standard earlier this week he doesn't recall the episode.

"She believes that but for his inebriation and his inability to take her clothes off, he would have raped her", Katz said. Stephanie Conway McGill said, "I stand by the letter I signed". Hill had a witness who testified that she told her of the sexual harassment at the time. Banks also deflected after Cooper asked whether Democrats are just trying to stall and obstruct.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference with Poland's president, Trump called Kavanaugh "a great man" and said that he feels "terribly" for the federal appeals court judge and his family.

Murray and other Democrats are drawing a direct parallel between the claims against Kavanaugh and those raised in 1991 when Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during his confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court.

There are no Republican women on the Senate Judiciary Committee but they're still in the spotlight because of the nature of the allegations. Thomas was eventually confirmed after the woman's credibility suffered when it was learned Hill followed Thomas from job to job. Joe Manchin said both Ford and Kavanaugh should have an opportunity to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee "as quickly as possible". This, after the 65 women came forward very quickly to throw their support behind the potential SCOTUS justice immediately after he was accused of attacking Dr. Ford.
